Months 34-35

Zooey's almost three. I suppose next month I will have to start doing my posts with the names of the months. ? Time flew by this summer, and I can't believe October is almost here. I also can't believe I missed last month's update! Luckily, I still took notes.

Ryan weighed Zooey yesterday, and she's 29 pounds.

Here's the run down on Zooey's likes and newest accomplishments:
~ The baby game. Every night before bed, she likes to put a stuffed animal in my shirt and pretend it's a baby. When the baby's born, she says, "shhh, shhh, ok baby."
~ She uses a baby voice when talking to cats or babies. It sounds like my baby voice, lol.
~ Although Snowball is not a fan, Zooey has to stop and "pet Ball" every.single.time we go near our room.
~ Zooey's stared really loving to dance in the last few months. After dinner, Ryan often turns on music and they dance together. She also likes to dance to "Yo Gabba Gabba."
~ Her language is really starting to explode with four word sentences, such as "wash markers after bath," "Daddy Papa Bear come," "Daddy eat, bath after."
~ She has grown attached to objects; it's usually a different object every few days. She took a special liking to her blanket last month, but that seems to be dwindling now. She also mimics sucking her thumb (she really just puts it in her mouth and kinda' leaves it there). I think she saw a kid at church doing it.
~ She has to have her animals in a certain order before she can fall asleep.
~ She is OBSESSED with babies. She rubs random, very thin women's tummies and says there's a baby inside. She runs up and tries to touch newborns' faces. She wants to see pictures of babies. She loves her doll babies and usually has to have one with her at all times. I cannot emphasize how much she loves babies.
~ She's also in the "family" stage. Everything has a mommy, daddy and baby, even her papers at school.
~ Oh, yeah! I started homeschooling Zooey in August. We do two days a week and are using the curriculum from Confessions of a Homeschooler, the Letter of the Week. So far, so good. The first day she was really mad at having to sit still and do one thing at a time, but by day two there was improvement. Now she asks for school on non-school days and gets upset when we don't have school.

Zooey dislikes:
~ Having her hair washed.
~ Things being broken (like how last week she threw a ten minute fit about her broken breakfast bar, so angry that I couldn't fix it).
~ Cars stopped at the red light. She yells "No! Go car!"
~ Strangers. She tells them "no no no." We're working on being a little bit more polite.

This age is so much fun! I love to see her budding personality, curiosity and all the stuff she just soaks up like a sponge. Zooey is a very happy girl, and all her teachers/caregivers tell us that she is a joy to have in class. She is a sensitive girl, and we are working on teaching her to stand up for herself (in a loving way, of course). She's easygoing and pretty compliant, but she's also stubborn and will let us know when she's mad. She is very nurturing, as you can probably tell from what she's into and doing these days. I love the way she laughs at so many things, and it reminds me to lighten up and keep my joy. I love being a mom more than I ever thought I would. It is a huge privilege and a blessing, and I know more each day why God says that children are a blessing. Are there challenging days? You bet! The longer I do this, the more I see how much time is fleeting, though, and I pray and try to cherish each moment.
